For each day that you volunteer, create a new journal entry in which the first line is the day, date, and time period that you worked that day. Please put this information in bold font. Write a paragraph that describes the type of duties you carried out that day (what you did, who else was there, whether you were a part of a team or were working alone, etc.). Once each week, focus on one particular event or aspect of your work that week and describe why you found this particular task or event to be unusual or of special interest. In a 250-300-word entry, relate this aspect of your volunteer experience to some specific knowledge that you have previously gained in your coursework to this point.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.

I volunteered at Central Texas Food Bank. The experience was greatly inspiring. I went on a Wednesday August 28, 2019 Morning from 9:00-12:00 shift. The crowd was comprised of mostly college kids from groups, everyone was divided up into different groups with different jobs. A quick orientation by the actual food bank staff and a couple assigned duties later, the place was buzzing about with sorters, inspectors, palletizers, trash/clean-up crew, and runners. My job is to sort food by cans, boxes, or packages, it was less exerting, and we did that for a few. It was the easiest and enjoyable part because I got to learn about the group I worked with. It also felt good to help others that aren’t as fortunate as my family. Everyone had a job to do and time really flew. We also have 15 minutes break time. We maybe 50 volunteers processed just over 5000 pounds of food that day which turns into something like 4200 meals.

Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger relief program in central Texas. From the CTFB website I learn that last year they brought 31 million meals to our community and into the hands of families and local nonprofits that turn to them for help. CTFB does more than just provide meal and food too. They share knowledge with families in need on low cost healthy meals and educate them on how to prepare the healthy food that is donated to them. Their mission is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger, I would say they are absolutely doing that!
I believe working for the food bank was a rewarding experience to me, I had opportunities to contribute to the team’s efforts in a variety of ways, but also gained valuable knowledge, skills, experience and most important things that volunteering teaches me that how to manage time efficiently. The ability to submit the work within time and timeliness traits will be polished during the project. Moreover, it will learn to prioritize and figure out the best way to accomplish all tasks.
