The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA) & the subsequent easing of it\’s restrictions incorporated in the Patriot Act of 2001is a major weapon the US uses to combat terrorism. FISA has come under much scrutiny recently as reports indicate it may have been abused by federal law enforcement to conduct electronic surveillance on individual citizens for political purposes. Do you think the provisions in FISA need to be revisited, amended or abolished to prevent possible abuse of innocent citizens?

The provisions of FISA should be abolished to prevent possible abuse of innocent citizens. Over the years, the public has lost trust in the FISA court and is partly because of the loss of faith of the DOJ and FBI to present the needed evidence to file applications for surveillance warrant (Jarrett, 2020).
