Essay : How does it relate to public health theories such as Levels of Prevention Model or Theories and models for public/community health nursing?

We learned which disciplines work most closely with nurses in environmental health. We also learned legislative and regulatory policies that have influenced the effect of the environment on health and disease patterns. And, the skills needed by nurses practicing in environmental health and applying the nursing process to the practice of environmental health.

My job this week was to sign/check-in all the clients that participated – new or old. It was a mixture of ethnic and culture backgrounds, I also had to translate in Spanish and explain what new things were being offered by this organization. For example, on Wednesday\’s they are now assisting the homeless eliminate any citation they are given by law enforcement for sleeping on the streets. There are requirements for this to happen but I just had to translate to let the Spanish speaking individuals know that they were offering a free clinic for individuals who had pending citations.

In this week’s theory, we learned about how environmental factors can influence human health and diseases. Environmental health was defined as a branch of health closely related to public health, and which is concerned with monitoring and mitigating factors that are likely to affect human health. One notable example was air pollution that may cause respiratory illnesses (Bengtsson et al., 2018).
