The event in Community Learning Assignment 1 will be the same event that you’ll discuss in Community Learning Assignment #2.
The Community Learning Assignment 2 is due by 11:30 p.m on the last day of Week 12 and requires that you attend one (1) community event/online community event and then reflect on the event by using your sociological imagination and analyze which sociological perspective aligns with this event (i.e. Conflict, Feminism, Functionalism and Symbolic Interactionism). Write My Essay For MeRationale
“We emphasize that sociology can be a liberating practical activity, not just an abstract intellectual exercise. By revealing the opportunities and constraints you face, sociology can help teach you who you are and what you can become in today’s social and historical context. We cannot know what the future will bring, but we can at least know the choices we confront and the likely consequences of our actions. From this point of view, sociology can help us create the best possible future. That has always been sociology’s principal justification, and so it must be today” (Brym, Roberts, & Strohschein, 2016).
INSTRUCTIONS
1. CHOOSE one (1) community learning events that connect to your topics of interest in this course. Using your sociological imagination, analyze which sociological perspective aligns with this event (i.e. Conflict, Feminism, Functionalism and Symbolic Interactionism).
2. ANALYSIS: Reflect upon the following questions:
- Micro: Summarize the event you attended. Consider: who/what/when/where/why. Provide date of the event (must occur during the course) and contact information (i.e. website, flyer, recording link, etc.)
- Macro: Explain how this event connects to a greater social issue and any other factors that are important to its greater context. Consider: how is this event significant, or what ideas does it advance in society at large?
- Connect: Connect the event/its topic to at least 3 key terms from the course, and explain which sociological perspective (i.e. Conflict, Functionalist, Feminist and Symbolic Interactionist) best aligns with the event topic and why.
- Reflect: What did attending this event mean to you? What did you learn? What did you feel? Elaborate on your personal outlook – what did you think about, how did your perspective change and what will you do differently moving forward in your career/personal life?
