The History of Cyclothymic Disorder
Cyclothymic disorder was identified by Karl Ludwig in 1883 and was characterized by eminent recurrent of mood cycles. At the time of its discovery, it was composed of both manic episodes as well as melancholic instances that occur in a milder state than it happens in bipolar disorders. The name of this disorder (cyclothymia) was coined by Kahlbaum as well as his student Eward Hecker.
